Everyone responsible for this disaster needs to be put in jail.
The 72-year-old Yoo Byung Eun who was on the run since fleeing from the police is now found dead. He was to be questioned on possible charges of embezzlement and negligence which lead to such a disaster. The hunt for him has been ongoing for more than a month, the public was also dissatisfied with the police’s lack of arrest.
His body was found in a plum field in Suncheon, South Jeolla Province on June 12. When police found his body, it was already heavily decomposed. They did a DNA check with his brother and it was a match.
Prosecutors provided an image with details of the things that was around him when his body was found.
In an effort to arrest Yoo Byung Eun, lots of police force was used. They raided the Evangelical Baptist Church, made arrests on a few cult members, and his family members are being investigated for possible embezzlement of funds from places secretly owned by Yoo Byung Eun. The eldest son, Yoo Dae Gyun is still on the run, a reward of 100 million won is offered for information leading to his arrest.
Although Yoo Byung Eun is found dead, prosecutors will continue their investigation to give the family and friends of victim the truth and justice they deserve. They will have those responsible pay for their actions. Prosecutors also said they have reliable evidence to prove Cheonghaejin Marine is a corrupt management.
The trials for the Sewol ferry crew members who abandoned passengers on the ship is currently being held. The Sewol ferry that sank on April 16, killed 294 passengers with 10 still missing.
